I had always wanted to do a blog and keep a journal but I never decided on what kind of topics I would discuss or write about. I had so many varying interests and never really knew how to organize all my ideas and present them.

I would have multiple Google Doc files about all sorts of different topics across a few different Google profiles. Before that, I would write in notebooks and the notes would be spread across many of them that it back too difficult and annoying to manage.

Then I decided to write my musings down on Twitter, and be as honest as judgment-free as possible under anonymity but then I eventually decided that I am comfortable and ready for other people to discover all my Tweets throughout these last few years.

Having those notes public made it possible for me to hold myself accountable to some degree b/c there would be timestamps for me to keep track of and a potential future audience that will eventually come across it so I wanted to be proud of what I had said.

Eventually, I realized that Slack is a great program to organize discussions and group topics and ideas since I had used it in business before. I used it to create a channel for each topic I wanted to keep notes about so it ended up being a log of thoughts regarding certain topics and ideas which allowed me to be very organized.

Seeing your ideas organized in a chain of texts/posts is incredibly useful b/c of the long term chronological additions to your thoughts about a topic. Between the time stamps and the ability to edit, it is a more effective way of writing notes than doing it on a standard Word Processor.

I used to write texts to myself on my phone to try and keep time stamps on everything as well as it being digitally backed up and not easily lost. That helped to some degree when it comes to archival snapshots of thoughts I had and ideas I was thinking during that time in my life but it is not organized in any way besides just chronological.

Then later when I was ready to make a website with my blog online for all to see I had to decide on how I wanted to present it. I knew I wanted to used the name Proscris but then I was uncertain of how to manage two separate entities, Proscris the Philosopher and Proscris the Digital Consultant.

Eventually I settled on Proscris being the blog where I write about anything that I like and which interests me. My digital consulting and marketing agency is known as Proscris Digital.
