What will make more sense

  • Ask which source supports a specific draft detail.
  • Check the source content rather than trusting a citation alone.

One idea to keep

Verify the specific fact in the actual source.

The short lesson

Read the explanation at your pace

A fluent answer can still use the wrong information. After a draft is produced, ask which sources supplied its key details. This is especially useful when the folder contains current and archived versions. You want more than a general claim that the assistant checked everything. You want to see which file supports the time, capacity or booking rule in the actual sentence.

Our prepared invitation accidentally says ten places. current-facts.md says eight, while the old plan says ten. That mismatch tells you something useful: the draft needs correction, and the assistant may have used the wrong source. Ask it to compare the draft with the current sheet and explain the discrepancy. Do not polish the incorrect sentence until the fact issue is resolved.

Some products expose references, tool logs or source lists. Use those controls when they are available, but also open the source itself. A citation is a path to verification, not proof that the text accurately represents it. An assistant can cite a real file while misreading the detail or applying an outdated section. Read the specific evidence that supports the claim.

A useful source report is short and concrete: the current fact sheet supplies the 4:00 p.m. start and eight-place capacity; the writing note supplies the friendly tone; the archive was not used for current details. If a piece of information is missing, the report should say so. This lets you distinguish verified facts from a proposed phrase or an assumption.

When the assistant finds conflicting instructions or sources, ask it to identify the conflict before changing content. You may need to clarify which owner decision applies. A quiet guess can spread into several drafts before anyone notices. A visible unresolved question is easier to answer than an unnoticed invented fact in a customer-facing message.

In the browser activity, choose the source-checking request. Then read both explanations. You are building a simple review habit: a claim should point to the right evidence, and the evidence should actually say what the claim says. That habit works with your own files as well as with web research, reports and connected business tools.

Find the source mismatch

Explore the prepared example, then choose a response. Your choice reveals its explanation immediately.

This is a local learning example with prepared responses. It does not run VS Code or contact an AI service.

STEP 1Identify the claim
STEP 2Open the supporting source
STEP 3Correct or flag the mismatch

The draft says ten places but the current sheet says eight. What next?

Optional: try 2 small actions at your own pace

You can finish this lesson by exploring the example above. These real-app actions are optional, and there is nothing to submit.

  1. Optional: find the capacity in current-facts.md.
  2. Optional: ask an assistant to cite the source of that single fact without generating a new invitation.

A quick confidence check

These checkmarks are a personal reminder. Choose what feels familiar, and come back whenever you want.

Try a short question

Choose an answer to see why it fits. You can try again or explore every explanation.

Does a source citation guarantee an accurate interpretation?

What should a source report do with missing information?

If something looks different

The assistant names a source but cannot identify the supporting detail.

Treat the claim as unverified. Open the source and ask it to distinguish evidence from inference.
